Sunday Spotlight!

Hey guys!

So today I'm gonna be telling you about one of my new favorite products that will help you get the perfect holiday hairstyles! This wonderful product is none other than the 1 1/2 inch Remington T-Studio Pearl Ceramic Styling Wand! I just recently purchased this and I ADORE it! You can find it at any local drugstore or target for only $25! Not only is it pink, but it give you beautiful, voluminous, glossy curls! I also own one of the Revlon curling wands in a smaller size but I'm not a huge fan of tight spiral curls. With a bigger barrel size, I can easily get my favorite big bouncy curls! I'm not very good at curling my hair but it's sooo easy to curl with the wand! Also because its ceramic (I'm not sure how it does this) but it doesn't leave your hair with a fried crunchy feeling at all! Smooth, sleek, and wonderful :) I hope you guys enjoyed this quick little review but I'll probably be posting some holiday looks using this wonderful product ;)

All That Glitters

So the holiday season is right around the corner and it's never to early to start planning outfits! So I've been seeing a lot of this style lately and I found many ways to work it into ensembles. The look I'm talking about is glitter! This trend has come and gone over the years but this year I am super excited to try it out! I plan on trying this trend on Thanksgiving tomorrow at my family dinner but maybe also working it into many of the holiday festivities such as, family Christmas parties, work Christmas parties, New Years festivities and other places where you have an occasion to dress up! I've see this style worked many ways, sometimes casual, sometimes super dressed up and sometimes barely even there! I'll take you through my interpretation of this trend step by step, date by date!

Casual: Okay! So the first way that I've seen this look, and my personal favorite variation of this look is the
half casual, half dressy look. What I mean by this is you pick one piece of the ensemble to make glittery and fabulous and then make sure the rest of the look is relaxed. A good rule of thumb to use is make sure that the part of your outfit that you're making shine complements your best asset  since the shine will attract all eyes!

                                   Leather and sequins

Comfy sweater, sequin mini & tights...          All That Glitters

All Over Sparkle: The next look is a little more dramatic but also very cute. This look may seem hard to pull off but with the right type of dress for your body, this can work for everyone. A good rule of thumb to keep in mind is remembering to go natural for the rest of your look. With this kind of dress it can be easy to be caught off guard, but it's best to balance the glitter with a natural eye and natural shoes.
                    sparkly
gold sequin & black opaque        LC Lauren Conrad's New Holiday 2012 Collection // sparkly silver dress

Just A Peek: This last look is probably the easiest to pull off. These dresses are fun and flirty by just showing a hint of glitter. I would suggest wearing these dresses with a shimmery heel to help add to the effect, but only if there is just a hint of glitter, if not go with the rule mentioned above!

                                    ♥

So there ya go! Just an idea of a fun way to spice up the usual holiday outfit! Send us your favorite holiday look or any ideas you want us to go over.

Friday Favorite!

Hey guys!

I'm sorry I haven't really been able to post too much, but my schedule has been absolutely craaaazy!  It's that wonderful time of the year :)  Anyways, today I'm gonna do a quick post about a favorite of mine this week!  I actually only purchased this product today but I absolutely love it already!  And this wonderful product iiiiiiis.....

Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB Cream!  If you're unfamiliar with BB cream, if stands for Beauty Balm and it blurs imperfections, brightens, evens skin-tone, smoothes, hydrates, enhances, protects with SPF 30, and contains 0% oils and heavy ingredients!  So basically, magic in a bottle ;)  Personally, I HATE wearing foundation because of the way it feels on my face and with tons of acne that's probably not the best thing!  But I can promise you that this feels like there's nothing on your face!  It gives very good coverage for being so light and it goes on very smoothly!  I've had it on for most of the day and it still feels and looks great!  And the very best part, it's only $9 and you can find it at any local drugstore!  I deeeefinitely recommend this product so let me know if you already have it

Fall/Winter Favorites!

Hello my lovelies!

When the weather starts to get chilly, the leaves change color, and it's acceptable to start buying hot drink at starbucks, it means that it's finally my favorite time of year!  There's nothing I love more than the holiday seasons!  The only thing that can almost compare to my love for the holidays is my love for fall/winter fashion.  So, obviously, today I'm going to be talking about my favorite fall and winter favorites!  There's definitely a lot to cover so I'll get started...

My absolute FAVORITE fall/winter fashion trend is sweaters!!!  I adore them in all shape, sizes, wacky prints, and colors!  It's so easy to throw on a cute sweater, some leggings, and moccasins when you're in a hurry.  You'll be warm, comfortable, and you'll still look super cute!  I usually buy mine a couple sizes bigger than what I'd normally wear :)

 knit scarves <3
Sometimes when it's really cold out, you'll need more than just a sweater.  I think knit scarves are an adorable way to stay nice and toasty warm while adding a pop of color or some texture to your look!  I'm a huge fan of infinite scarves but I will also always love a classic knit scarf :)

Gabriela Artigas rings. Small and dainty and beautiful...but pricey.
Since it can be hard to accessorize when you're wearing a big sweater, I've been loving small, dainty rings!  They can add such a simple feminine touch to any outfit.  I have a couple and I wear them constantly!

In the beginning of autumn, I purchased a pair of brown combat boots at target and I've basically been LIVING in them ever since!  They're so cute and comfortable and they go perfectly with all of my favorite sweaters!

Those are my fashion favorites so now it's time for beauty favorites!

Personally, I'm not a big lipstick wearer, but I think that gorgeous dark red and burgundy shades like this one are perfect for fall!  This color by Nars called Autumn Leaves (literally meant for fall!) is one of the many beautiful lip colors out there that will instantly make your lips pop!

Natural eye makeup
When wearing such bold lip colors, a natural eye look similar to this one will help you complete the perfect fall look!  You'll want to stay as natural as possible with the shadows (try only using matte shadows) and use a nice lengthening mascara.  This is my go to eye look all year round!

Hair bow
Last but not least, one of my favorite hairstyles!  Hair bows are the perfect way to add a touch of girlyness to your usual hairstyle!  They look complicated, but they're actually really easy to do and it only takes a couple minutes!  If you can't figure it out, you can just clip in a cute satin bow and you're ready to go!

So that tops off my fall/winter fashion and beauty favorites!  I hope you guys enjoyed!  Feel free to send us any request at lillyrae24@gmail.com or comment below. :)  Thanks for reading!

My Everyday Makeup Bag

Hey Beauties!

So this is going to be a quick look into the items that I bring to school with me every day. I'll start with the products that I use every day and then finish with some of the products that vary depending on the day. Here we go....

First off I have a pocket mirror, this one I picked up from Forever 21

Next I have lipbalms, one is the EOS lip balm in mint and a CoBigelow lipbalm in mentha from Bath and Body Works.

Next I have hair ties and bobby pins, I always gravitate toward buying ties and pins that match my natural hair color (dark brown) but any color, size, or shape will work

The next thing that I keep with me are band-aids! I picked up some super cute ones from Forever 21 and threw them in my bag

The next thing I keep with me is a Creamy Pumpkin hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works, I always try to have a Pocketbac with me but it usually varies from season to season and since its Fall right now this one is perfect!

The next thing that I keep with me are Tea Tree Blotting Tissues from The Body Shop. I generally use these after Lunch since its the middle of the day and its a great way to refresh for my afternoon classes!

The next thing that I keep with me is a Covergirl Pressed Powder that is perfect for touch ups

The next item that I keep is a Revlon Photo Ready cover up

The next thing that I have is an automatic eyeliner from Ulta. The color that I prefer to use is black, but Ulta has many colors and all in all this is one of my favorite non liquid liners.

The next thing that I keep in my bag is L'Oreal's Voluminous Million Lashes.

The next thing that I keep in my bag usually changes every day, however my 'every day' look usually includes either a Wet n Wild trio in 'Walking On Eggshells' of a Revlon quad in 'Addictive'

                           'Walking On Eggshells'                                         'Addictive'

The last thing that I keep in my bag also changes day to day but one of the ones that I've been keeping with me recently is a lip gloss tube from Bath and Body Works called 'All I Want Is Your Peppermint Hug' it's a seasonal lip gloss but since we're in the holiday season I've been using it like crazy.

So that's what I keep in my bag with me, nothing to out of the ordinary but just the things that I can pull out between classes to touch up my make up!

XOXO Lilly

Quick Disclaimer

Hey guys!

So before I start posting I just wanted to say a few things. Lilly and I are far from perfect! What we post won’t magically turn you into a perfectly gorgeous person, but it’ll only enhance the wonderful features you already have! That’s the whole point of makeup and clothes, isn’t it? I know it’s totally cliche, but each of you should know that beauty isn’t effected by how well your hair and makeup are done or how expensive your clothes are. Those things may make you pretty, but true beauty is made up of your own quirky personality, a REAL smile that brings joy to others, a kind, loving heart and many other great traits. Someone may be the prettiest person in the world, but if they don’t have a beautiful heart then their outer appearance means nothing. I know it can be hard to remember to be kind to others, but nobody’s perfect and if you’re trying that’s all that matters! Now that I’ve written a novel, I hope you guys get my point! Hopefully I’ll get some real posts up soon!

XOXO, Rae

Welcome To Our Blog!

Hey gorgeous gals!

Welcome to our beauty and fashion blog!  Where you will find beauty tips and tricks that we’ve collected and tested as well as the latest fashion trends and styles. This blog will be run by me, Rachel (or Rae) and Lilly; we met when we were in kindergarten and have been best friends ever since. We’re practically sisters!  We have similar tastes in music, style and just about everything else, but we also have our very own unique personalities.  Now for personal introductions! Everyone’s favorites…

My name is Rachel (call me Rae if you please) and I’m pretty much just your average teenage girl.  I’m a sophomore in highschool, but unlike most sophomores, I’m homeschooled!  Most people think that all homeschoolers are weird, nerdy, and socially awkward (which isn’t a complete lie for some people) but I promise you that that’s not all true!  I’m the same as the rest of you except for the fact that I don’t have to get up as early and I can do school in my pajamas ;)  I have a couple weird obsessions such as; cats (especially my own little darling), elephants, and everything and anything from Lush.  I spend 14 hours of my week dancing at a local dance studio.  I’ve been frolicking around the dance room since I was 4 and I love it!  Obviously, I have a love for beauty and fashion that I want to share with you!  I have a few fashion girl crushes including Lauren Conrad (an obsession Lilly and I both share), Blake Lively, Kate Middleton, and a few classic beauties like Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe! The more I post, the more you’ll start to get a sense of my personal taste and style. :)

I’m Lilly! I am 15 and I’m a sophomore at a local High School and more importantly, I am a swimmer. I am on three different swim teams, my school team, my city team and my swim club’s team. When I’m not at the bottom of the pool I am at a debate meeting, or student council meeting. Then somewhere in between I take time to catch up on my favorite bands and the latest styles. My “style” is ever evolving and you’ll be able to tell by my posts that I don’t have any one specific taste, however, I do have a very “Indie” style. Beanies and Bon Iver all the way. My favorite stores, for the most part are Urban Outfitter, American Eagle, Forever 21 and H and M. Some of my favorite style icons are Lauren Conrad, Lucy Hale, Nina Dobrev, and Pippa Middleton.

So follow us if you like and feel free to message or email us any request of ideas at lillyrae24@gmail.com!
