Best Packing Trick EVER!

Herrrrrrrro from a sleepy Rae flying 38,941 feet in the sky! :3

Once again, I'm taking advantage of a 5h airplane ride (and free wifi) and writing a post for you guys! I'm super excited about this one because it is by far the most useful traveling trick I've ever come across! Aaaaaand it just happens to be absolute perfect timing since spring break is just around the corner! I'm going to apologize in advance for the terrible picture quality. I used an iPad to take all of the pictures since my phone is swimming in the Sea of Cortez in Mexico, but I promise that after this post I'll be back at home and I'll start using my Canon T1i which has very good quality. Anyways, I'm rambling so lets get started :)

So in this post, I'm going to share the ultimate packing secret with you guys. This glorious secret iiiiiiis...... *drumroll* ............ How to pack for a 10+ day trip with just a carry-on sized suitcase!!!! This trick has a secret ingredient which is none other than a pillow case... Yes, a pillowcase. You'll understand very soon, don't worry ;) Packing everything into a carry-on luggage saves money, and it's much easier to navigate the airport with a tiny suitcase instead of lugging around a huge one!

To give you the idea of how much you can fit into a carry-on, I too, a picture of all the clothing I took with me; 15 shirts, 2 tank tops, 4 dresses, 4 pairs of shorts, 1 skirt, 1 pair of legging, 3 swimsuits, 4 pairs of shoes (you have to wear one in the airport so I actually took 5), 2 pj shorts, 2 spandex shorts, and my makeup bag! That was actually way too much for the trip I went on, but that just goes to show you how much can fit in there!

So the big secret is rolling your shirts into a pillowcase. It sounds kinda weird but I promise you, it works! The first thing your going to want to do is lay all of your shirts flat on top of each other like so. (I didn't include my more casual t-shirts) Try to make them as flat as possible to get the best results.

This next step is a bit tricky. You're going to want to pull all of your shirts into the pillowcase by gently easing the shirts inside. To do this, grab all of your shirts from the top and pull until you reach the end of the pillowcase. Once you've done this, try to flatten out the shirts as much as possible. Then, tightly roll the pillowcase from the bottom so you create a "burrito".

Repeat the "burrito" process with your dresses (if you have any) by folding them in half (length wise) and rolling down from top to bottom. Fold your shorts in half so they're nice and flat on top of each other and do the same with pj's or any extra t-shirts.

Finally, pack your items like so!

On the larger side of you case:

Put your shirt burrito length wise on the left

Lay your shorts/leggings flat next to the shirt burrito

Place your dress burrito on top of your shorts (try to flatten it out a bit)

Stack your pjs and extra shirts sideways on the bottom, and your makeup bag on top of them.

On the left portion of the case:

Pack your underwear, bras, tank tops, and flat shoes in the biggest pocket. Make sure you pack your shoes with the bottoms up so you don't get anything dirty!

And last but not least, put your swimsuits and left over items in the remaining pockets :)

So I hope this helped you guys out because it has DEFINITELY helped me a ton! If you have extra items you want to bring, use a big purse to keep books, electronic devices, etc. in. Once again, I apologize for the the terrible quality but it will change very soon, I promise!

Thanks for reading and comment below is you have any packing tricks cause I'd looove to hear them! :)

XOXO,
Rae
